Boscawen Farm is a wellbeing day service offering opportunities to adults with learning difficulties.

We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic team of volunteers with a passion for Cornish heritage crafts, eager to learn new skills. These roles are perfect for people who enjoy hands-on activities, working with different materials, and engaging with a community that shares a love for heritage crafts. Thanks to generous funding from the National Heritage Lottery Fund, we can offer free training opportunities with Cornish Heritage Craft experts including: Heritage Cookery, Wood Whittling, Wool Work, Basket Making and Candle Making.

Key responsibilities:

  • Participate in various craft projects, including but not limited to cookery, wool work such as knitting or crochet, willow weaving, wood whittling and DIY projects.
  • Assist in the preparation and setup of crafting classes or events.
  • Help organise and maintain crafting areas, supplies, tools, and materials.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop new craft ideas and activities.
  • Support participants of all ages (including staff and the people we support) by demonstrating craft techniques, offering guidance, and encouraging creativity.
  • Learn and adapt to new crafting skills and techniques as needed.
  • Contribute to the creation of craft items for community projects, events, or fundraising activities.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A genuine interest in crafts and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Basic experience with crafting is a plus, but not essential.
  • Patience and the ability to work well with others, including vulnerable adults.
  • Good communication skills and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Reliability and the ability to commit to a regular volunteering schedule
