Cornwall Climate Care: A talk with Claire Wallerstein
Cornwall Climate Care film producer, Claire Wallerstein, joins Cornwall Science Community for this free online event.
"To fight climate change we must urgently restore and protect our oceans and wild habitats, because they can absorb huge amounts of carbon. Yet the droughts, floods, diseases and wildfires caused by climate change are accelerating the loss of these very places.
Can small individual actions really make any difference in the face of a situation that seems so complex and urgent?
Ambitious action is undoubtedly needed from governments and industry – but bottom-up change is crucial too, and if enough of us act it really can have a huge combined impact.
Cornwall Climate Care's films are a great springboard to start local conversations and get communities working together on the issues most relevant to them."

"Claire worked for many years as a print and radio reporter, author and as a press officer for the International Fund for Animal Welfare, in the UK and abroad (Philippines, South America and East Africa).
In 2013, Claire set up Rame Peninsula Beach Care, a successful beach cleaning and marine conservation charity in Cornwall, and she also co-coordinates the Cornish Plastic Pollution Coalition.
She was a member of the 2018 Sail Against Plastic expedition to Svalbard, studying the impact of plastic pollution, but also experiencing the inescapable evidence of climate change on this fragile region in the remote Arctic."
Come along to hear all about Claire's experiences and what you and your local community can do to help fight the climate crisis.
