Cornwall Hospice Care is a leading independent Cornish charity (registered charity number 1113140), providing special care free of charge, to patients with life limiting illnesses aged 18 and over at two Cornwall based hospices - Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell and St Julia's Hospice in Hayle.
The nursing teams care for people with a range of illnesses from cancer to heart and lung disease and Motor Neurone disease.
The generosity of the public is vital so the care for people across Cornwall is maintained at no charge to them. Every penny counts and every penny is spent supporting the adult hospices in Cornwall for Cornwall.
It costs £8.4 million to run our charity and with a very small grant from the NHS it means a staggering £7.5 million has to be raised every year.
Mount Edgcumbe Hospice (St Austell) and St Julia’s Hospice (Hayle) provide a welcome sanctuary for people affected by life limiting illnesses. All patients are treated with respect, offering them personalised care in a compassionate setting. More than half go home after treatment and all receive their care completely free of charge.
Patients are referred to the hospices and are admitted according to their clinical priority when assessed. Patients with any diagnosis will be accepted if they are assessed as a priority. The specialist team offer this support to people with complex symptoms, suffering from life limiting illnesses from cancer, to heart and respiratory conditions and diseases like Motor Neurone.
