The Limbless Association is a national, user-led charity that has been supporting amputees across the UK since 1983. The LA has excellent knowledge of the issues affecting amputees’ physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and aims to ensure that no amputee need cope alone.

Contact us for free, high-quality information, advice and support pre- and post-amputation – by phone, email and online. Our services include:

Helpdesk

The LA Helpdesk supports amputees and family members, pre- and post-amputation. Our experienced advisors provide information and support on all areas of limb loss including welfare rights entitlements, all areas of the rehabilitation pathway, legal support and access to LA services and resources.

We’re available 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays: email [email protected] or freephone 0800 644 0185.

Volunteer Visitor Service

The Limbless Association’s Volunteer Visitor service has been operating for over 20 years and its volunteers make a unique contribution to the limb loss community. Thanks to National Lottery funding we have further developed and enhanced our Volunteer Visitor (VV) peer support programme.

Volunteer Visitors share their own lived experience with those who have had or are about to have an amputation. It is a free, non-clinical service available to amputees across the UK, with visits currently taking place by phone or through our virtual platform.

Support and Connect

Our Support and Connect outreach team run monthly drop-in Hubs in rehabilitation centres across the UK.  Due to the coronavirus, these informal get-togethers have moved online through Zoom and they now run weekly, along with themed events and talks on a range of useful topics. They have been really popular with our members across the country as they are a fantastic way to connect with fellow amputees, access information, share experiences of limb loss and make new friends. We hope to reopen existing Support and Connect Hubs and start new ones as soon as restrictions allow

Resource Library

We’ve compiled the latest information and support for all amputee and limb-loss related issues on our website so it is free and easily accessible for those who need it.
