About Oxfam

Oxfam is a global movement of millions of people who share the belief that, in a world rich in resources, poverty isn't inevitable. In just 15 years, extreme poverty has been halved. 15 more years and we can end it for good.

Volunteering at Oxfam is the perfect way to gain new skills, whether you're looking to improve your CV, take on a new challenge or just have fun!

We have a range of standard roles and some more specialist roles. We like to give volunteers an opportunity to try a range of areas before they find something that suits them. You might become a Shop Volunteer, Bookshop Volunteer or Music Shop Volunteer. Or you might find yourself in a more specific role such as a Social Media Volunteer, an Admin Support Volunteer, or even a Lead Volunteer.

About The Role

Do you have a passion for customer service and are looking for a volunteer experience within a fast-paced, fun and people first retail environment?

This could be the role for you if you can volunteer for a minimum of 3 hours during the week/weekends on a flexible basis to suit your lifestyle with more hours available by arrangement.

Oxfam volunteer teams are amazing and valued individuals who donate their valued gift of time to make a difference to the lives of others.

So join us and let's change the world together

What's involved?

You could be involved with any/all of the following:

  • Help with sorting donations
  • pricing incoming donations
  • operating the till
  • assisting customers.
  • The shop sells homewares, men's, women's, and children's clothing and accessories, toys, linen, or new products

What's in it for you?

  • If you want to share or acquire retail skills and gain an insight into the running of a very busy charity shop this could be your opportunity.
  • Opportunity to acquire cashier training if interested in the additional skills
  • You will benefit from flexible hours to suit you, full ongoing training, induction and support and this is an excellent opportunity for you to really make a difference through your valued gift of time, add extra skills to your CV and make new friends
  • Reasonable travel and lunch expenses can be covered in line with Oxfam's local expense policy.

What's next?

Once you submit your application, we will contact you to discuss the opportunity. Please note we do require two positive references prior to any volunteer starting.
