My aim is to offer support through the physical/mental and social exercise of indoor rock climbing for those who are struggling or suffering with their health and well-being, be that issues with mental health, anxiety/depression/addiction etc.
This climbing project is accessible to all, embraces diversity and offers everyone an opportunity to take part in a physically and mentally stimulating activity.
“Chalk” will offer much more than a climbing experience, it’s a wonderful opportunity for people to face their fears, improve communication techniques, build relationships, enhance confidence and self-esteem and become socially active regardless of age, ability and background in a safe environment where we will also be teaching and encouraging safe climbing practices.
I have over twenty years of climbing experience and am a qualified indoor climbing instructor. I have experienced my own personal challenges which I believe allows me to relate and empathise to others experiencing difficulties in their lives and therefore I recognise the huge benefits that climbing can bring in supporting mental and physical well-being.
I have been reaching out to local services, social prescribing referrers, schools and colleges, community groups and climbers who all can see benefits to a project of this kind. I have also being liaising with other organisations such as; Treyla, Who Dare’s Works and Positive people, amongst others.
The climbing project is active and I am ready to take groups and individuals to the indoor climbing wall in Penryn.
If you feel this project could be of benefit to your service and any of your patients/service users, or if you have any questions about the project please let me know.
