Could you help keep our preschool running?
Stithians Preschool is a charity run by a volunteer committee, and we rely on the skills and goodwill of our community to keep this special little setting running for our children. We’re now looking for a new Volunteer Treasurer to join the committee.
This role is a great opportunity to make a real difference behind the scenes. It involves around 1–2 hours a week, working closely with our Business Manager and committee to oversee finances, authorise payments and help us plan sustainably for the future. If you’re comfortable with numbers or have experience in finance, bookkeeping, payroll or similar, your skills could have a big impact.
You don’t need previous committee experience – just reliability, confidence with finances, and a willingness to get involved. While many of our volunteers are parents, this role is open to anyone with the right skills and experience who feels they could help.
We’ve attached the full role description with more details. If you’re interested or would simply like an informal chat to find out more, contact our Chair at [email protected]
About our preschool
Stitithians Preschool and B4 & L8 Club is a small, friendly village preschool at the heart of our community. We provide a safe, nurturing and fun environment for local children and families, and we’re proud to be a charity run by a volunteer committee working closely with our dedicated staff team.
To help keep the preschool running smoothly and sustainably for years to come, we’re looking for a new Treasurer to join our committee.
The role
The Treasurer plays an important part in looking after the preschool’s finances and helping the committee make sound decisions. You’ll work closely with our part-time Business Manager, who manages the day-to-day administration, so the role is mainly about oversight, support and planning rather than routine bookkeeping.
This is a great opportunity to use your skills to support a much-loved local service and make a real difference to families in a local Cornish village.
Time commitment: Around 1–2 hours per week (flexible) + committee meetings every other month (online and occasionally in person), plus occasional volunteering at fundraising events (2-3 times per year).
Type: Voluntary / trustee role
What you’ll be doing

Keeping an overview of the preschool’s financial position
-
Monitoring income, spending and cash flow

-
Attending friendly committee meetings every other month
-

Who we’re looking for
You don’t need to have been a treasurer before, but you should feel comfortable with numbers and financial processes.
Ideally, you will:
-
Have experience with finance, bookkeeping, accounting, payroll or similar
-
Be confident using spreadsheets and online banking/accounting systems
-
Be organised, reliable and able to explain finances clearly to others
-
Be willing to commit for at least a year to give the role stability
We’d love to hear from parents or members of our local community, but the most important thing is finding someone with the right skills and commitment. You don’t have to be a parent or a Stithians village resident to apply; we welcome applications from anyone with the right skillset, experience and enthusiasm!
What you’ll gain
-
The chance to directly support a vital village service
-
A meaningful volunteer leadership role and trustee experience
-
Flexible volunteering that fits around work and family life
