About
Learn Laugh Live - The aim of the u3a is to help people continue to learn and enjoy life when their more regular working life is over .
There are over 1,000 u3a's in the UK. The u3a (Formally known as University of the Third Age) is one of the largest membership orgaisations in the UK with aproximately 400,000 members.
Here in St Austell we have over 500 members and over 45 interest groups that you can join. These range from physical activities like walking or line dancing, card and board games, book groups and languages. We have a monthly speaker meeting, held on the 1st Thursday of the month at St Austell Arts Centre. Doors open at 10.00am (free coffee available until 10.45am) and the talk begins at 11.00am. On the third Friday of the month there is a coffee morning especially for new members and existing members to get together, starting at 10.00am to 11.30am. Group leaders and Committee members attend as well. We also have various fund raising activities and an active social programme with an event most months.
