I was the lead yoga teaching consultant for a high profile University of York randomised control trial funded by Arthritis Research UK (now Versus Arthritis).  I designed a 12-week specialised yoga programme for these clinical trials called 'Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs' and it was found to be effective and cost-effective. 

The evidence-based 12-week gentle 'Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs' course teaches people to help themselves for the long-term - they get given a lifelong healthy living toolkit that helps their health generally, but especially their musculoskeletal and mental health.

There are some digital resources and a Resources Pack that aids the learning.

I have trained 400+ teachers throughout the UK.  There are several qualifed Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs teachers in Cornwall who are supported by myself to deliver the YHLB Yoga courses, although they are all self-employed, already qualifed and well-experienced yoga teachers.

I have helped set up multiple successful NHS pilots offering the YHLB Yoga course alongside GP care as in our original research. 

I am also involved in an NHS England Improvement projects where YHLB Yoga teachers are delivering funded YHLB Yoga courses within MSK care pathways and within integrated healthcare systems. 

Public Health England are supportive of this specific programme and list it in their MSK return on investment toolkit and strategy documents.
