The Hive is a new and exciting project that has been making better use of waste food since 2018. Unlike those excellent charities that collect waste food from supermarkets, The Hive takes the same food, cooks and packs it close to its 'use' by date thereby extending its useful life locking in nutrition and providing a range of menus. The vision of the charity is a Centre of Excellence industrial kitchen in Cornwall processing (in Year 3) 30-40 tonnes of food per month into healthy meals. The process directly addresses Cornwall 'climate emergency' and feeding the 1 in 4 children in Cornwall suffering food insecurity.
