Breather Groups aim to rebuild strength and improve general wellbeing in a safe environment - providing tools and advice so that people can enjoy a more full and active life.
Patients in the community are being offered one-to-one support via weekly telephone calls as well as being signposted to various services or their nearest Breather’s Group.
The latter are run by patients for patients and consist of members doing a series of exercises based on lung and cardiac rehabilitation followed by social interaction with refreshments. Great social support.
Although they are called Breather’s Groups, they are open to anyone with lung, cardiac and other long-term conditions & very warm/welcoming.
There are many such groups in Cornwall and are a great way of encouraging patients to learn about their condition and maintaining the best possible lung health.
Pop along for a warm welcome. Phone Jan or Mary for information about a group near you. People can self-refer for telephone support.
