Cornwall Care - Mountford, Truro
Mountford is a 36 bed nursing home for people with long term conditions e.g. diabetes, heart failure, neurological problems such as Parkinson's, dementia and end of life care. We care for our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in a supportive and dignified environment. Our staff promote independence and understand different illnesses. They are highly trained and passionate about their roles and the lives of our residents.
Mountford has big, bright, open rooms with a communal area overlooking the city of Truro and the surrounding countryside. There are lots of cosy spaces for residents to relax in and enjoy the view onto the garden, as well as sensory areas to experience. We keep our home decorated with fresh flowers and personal pictures so everyone feels involved and comfortable.
Our beautiful sensory garden -which has wheelchair access - provides a wonderful, calm and serene retreat, where our residents and their loved ones can enjoy those sunny Cornish days surrounded by bright and colourful flowers, or engage in a spot of gardening or feeding the chickens. Our delightful tea room also provides the perfect space for relaxing and indulging in a Cornish cream tea. The tea room can be booked out for family functions so families can spend time with their loved ones. There is also a greenhouse for pottering about in.
Individuality and community are important to us; everyone at Mountford is part of our community, including residents, staff, relatives and visitors. You can sense the homely and relaxed atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door and there is always laughter and music coming from our main room. We have lots of activities to stimulate the mind and body, as well as regular trips to nearby towns and fun local events. We have quite the active social life!
We offer a range of activities designed to stimulate body and mind and each week, our Activities Co-ordinator will prepare a varied list of organised activities designed to meet the social, physical, spiritual and environmental needs of our residents. We encourage friends and family members to join us. In addition to our regular activities, entertainers and performers visit on a frequent basis and seasonal events, such as Christmas and birthdays, are always celebrated. Residents' loved ones are welcome to visit and we are able to accommodate small parties and gatherings to celebrate these occasions on request as well.
