2) HD Family Voices: Painters of Hope: Art and Huntington's disease in Venezuela. 14 February 3pm
Once a month, Marina Gonzalez, an Architect and President of Habitat Luz (one of two humanitarian organisations working for people with HD) holds the 'Painters of Hope' group in St Luis, Maracaibo, Zulia State, Venezuela. The St Luis, St Francisco and Barranquitas communities in Venezuela are the largest community of people with HD in the world and much of the knowledge that we have today about the genetic makeup of the illness comes from them. Held in the back room of a church in the neighbourhood, Habitat Luz and Factor H support the community to come together to express themselves through painting. Breakfast is provided and dancing is optional. Last September, they held their first exhibition in Maracaibo Cultural Centre.
Hosted by the HD Alliance in conjunction with Alex Fisher (who is now a European Associate of Factor H), come and extend a warm HD Family Voices hand to Marina and the group as we contact them live on the 14th February 2024 at 3pm.
The HD Alliance brings together Huntington's Disease charities from across the UK and Ireland.
