They are free, fun, multi-sport activity sessions for children and young people aged 6-18 years with any additional need or disability and their siblings or friends. They provide a unique and inclusive opportunity to have a go at a wide range of sports including Kwik cricket, dodgeball, football, basketball, badminton and so much more.
They are two hours long, non-competitive, friendly and fun sessions where children and young people get to try out new things, make new friends and have some fun and they run every week of the school holidays (except Christmas), at Cornwall College and Bodmin Leisure Centre.
They are delivered by our partners, Shilton Soccer who have a fantastic team of coaches that are trained and who work mostly in sport and education, they foster great relationship with and between the children and young people and ensure everyone is happy, participating and enjoying the sessions.
If your child needs a little help at the sessions to ensure they are able to fully engage, we are able to help you apply for an inclusion grant from Family Information Services to fund an ‘Includer’ for one to one support. They will stay with your child throughout the session, ensuring they get the most out of it, also giving you peace of mind.
Parents and carers are welcome to stay and watch, or take the opportunity to pop off for some chill out time.
We have fantastic feedback and many parents tell us how their child has been encouraged by the sessions to take part in other sports, whether in a community club or at school. Several children have shown real talent and have gone on to join mainstream or disability specific football clubs and one child joined the Special Olympics Boccia team.
