Amputees supporting Amputees
The Limbless Association is a user-led national charity with excellent knowledge of the issues affecting amputees’ physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Our mission is to support and empower all amputees to lead independent and fulfilled lives.
Our Volunteer Visitor programme has been supporting amputees for over 20 years. In 2021, thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund, the Volunteer visitor programme has been further expanded to allow more amputees across the country to receive peer support.
Volunteer Visitors use their own experience of being an amputee to support recent amputees, by offering a safe place to talk to someone who has lived through a similar experience and by providing practical information. By volunteering for just a few hours each month, our Volunteer Visitors make an extraordinary impact. Join us and use your experience to support other amputees and help the LA to ensure that no amputee need cope alone.
Volunteer Visitors receive a comprehensive range of training which can help you to gain skills for employment and boost your confidence.
