Our Quiet Meet Up's are all about bringing quieter people together to gently connect in ways that honour our more introverted and sensitive natures. Use this time and space to quietly connect and enjoy yourself in a way that feels comfortable for you.
Women, Men, and people of all ages come along to our Meet Ups... and we all get along because we're all Quieteers!
Principles of a Quiet Meet Up:
- It's okay to talk, and it's okay to be quiet too. We understand that you may prefer to ease into conversation gradually, or that some days you might like to sit quietly with a good book whilst still in the company of others. Both quietude and chatter are welcomed equally.
- Go at your own pace. There's never any pressure to participate more than what feels right and good for you -quietly observing or saying ‘no thanks’ to an invitation is welcomed. In fact, we believe that getting through the door is a huge win for many of us! There's no need to set a big goal to speak and participate, you're invited to go at your own pace.
- We all help each other to feel comfortable and included. We cannot know how someone else is feeling, and therefore we assume that everyone attending may be experiencing anxiety and, as compassionate people, we all aim to show someone they’re not alone in our own unique and gentle ways.
How Quiet Meet Ups make it easier for you to connect:
- You know that everyone attending can relate to the challenges you experience on some level and being around these genuinely understanding people automatically takes the pressure off to be a certain way or hide how you feel.
- You can reach out to us for a chat and reassurance before you attend – either over email, phone call or in person. We’re happy to answer any questions you have and connect with you before a Meet Up to help put you at ease –just email [email protected] for a casual chat.
- You’ll get conversation starters on the tables because we know that getting to know new people can be challenging! So, you’ll find some interesting (and playful!) questions that you can ask your neighbour to get to know each other.
- You can pick optional activities each week because we know that having a little distraction can make it much easier to connect and start conversations.
- There are teas, coffees, and hot chocolates and biscuits. Because... well you can't really have a meet up without them!
