Restormel Community Service - drivers & befrienders needed
The Restormel Community Service (RCS) is a volunteer transport scheme that is an independent branch of the Royal Voluntary Service, one of the UK's largest charities. We provide transport and befriending for senior residents of the former Borough of Restormel, i.e. from Newquay to St. Austell and Fowey to Probus.
We help those who, due to ill-health, age or mobility issues, are unable to access conventional transport to attend medical appointments and well-being events. There is a small booking fee and mileage charge. These charges cover drivers' running costs and enable us to continue to provide our vital services.
RCS also operates a Befriending Scheme. Our specialist volunteers will visit those who are experiencing loneliness and isolation. A weekly visit - or even the occasional phone call - can make world of difference to those older members of the community who feel isolated. There is no charge for this service.
We need more drivers and befrienders. Can you spare a few hours each week to help out?
