What is a Volunteer Driver?
We are searching for volunteer drivers for our person-centred car scheme. Our aim is to win the fight against loneliness & isolation, creating greater choice and independence for people in Cornwall & South Devon.
We arrange door-to-door transport for people who have difficulty accessing other forms of public transport. We specialise in non-emergency healthcare appointments, trips to the library, memory cafés, meeting friends for lunch and shopping excursions.
Our transport services perform an invaluable role in the community; providing individuals, organisations & groups with an opportunity to find out what transport is available, identify the cost and to book & co-ordinate the service with ease.
Our Volunteer Drivers need a clean driving licence, MOT, Insurance & Tax; Midas Training is given and a DBS check is required for all new applicants.
The number of hours required would be flexible to meet your needs and mileage is paid to all volunteers.
What you will get out of it
- It's a great way to make a real difference to someone's life
- You'll be giving something to your community
- You get to be part of our volunteering family
- You will provide a safe, effective, co-ordinated service for people who need it the most
- All your mileage expenses will be paid
