October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year, about 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK. It is more common in women who are aged 50 and over, but can affect any age. Men can also get breast cancer, but this is rare. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. Survival for breast cancer is generally good, particularly if you are diagnosed early. This is probably because of screening, early diagnosis and improved treatment.

Age UK Cornwall have a unique partnership with Macmillan in the South West. Our Macmillan Team can offer anyone directly or indirectly affected by cancer information and signposting to bring them the appropriate support they need, whilst also having the time to be that all important listening ear. To contact our team please call the Age UK Cornwall and IOS Helpline on: 01872 266 383.

On Friday 23rd October, everyone is encouraged to Wear It Pink to generate more awareness of those affected by breast cancer and Age UK Cornwall & The Isles of Scilly's Macmillan Team need you to help us spread our message throughout Cornwall.

Simply take a picture of your pink outfit, signpost to resources in Cornwall for those directly or indirectly affected by breast cancer, and tag in our profiles and the official hashtags #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth and #WearItPink.
