Wellbeing Reset - 17th January event
The last two years have been tough for everyone but especially for key workers – those that continued to work on the frontline in social care, health, and education throughout the UK lockdowns and are still facing extreme pressures.
Such pressures will take a toll – physically, mentally, and emotionally.
17 January, the third Monday of January, is ‘Blue Monday’ – supposedly the most depressing day of the year in the northern hemisphere. The effects of the combination of short, dark days; wet, cold weather; the excesses of Christmas and long wait till payday; fading resolve for new year’s resolutions and seemingly little to celebrate was ‘calculated’ to peak on this particular Monday – rarely anyone’s favourite day of the week. While there is little or no scientific evidence to support this, it does offer an opportunity to talk about mental health and wellbeing. The Samaritans have even redubbed it ‘Brew Monday’ – a positive chance to reach out and connect with others.
REACH Cornwall develop training in response to the needs of the social care, healthcare and early years sectors across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Mental health is a topic which has come up many times when we have chatted to providers of these services. So, we thought this might be an ideal opportunity to team up once again with Amy Fox from the Fox Project and get her very real, down to earth approach on supporting wellbeing.
Amy has featured in several webinars and workshops developed and delivered by REACH Cornwall over the last couple of years and her sessions always receive amazing feedback. Some of the comments include:
“Amy’s presentation was especially insightful”
(attendee Post Covid Recovery webinar, 17 June 2021)
“Excellent afternoon with really invaluable support, thank you! Should be spread far and wide!”
“Professionally this course has given me more confidence to signpost/initiate dialogue around mental health and personally, it has also been really refreshing.”
(both attendees, Managing Anxiety and Depression, 16 October 2019)
This Wellbeing Reset is aimed at all those amazing people who focus so much of their time and energy on caring for others but often forget to care for themselves with as much love and attention. With this in mind, we have a few requirements for attendance:
- Hot (or cold) drink of your choice
- 2.5 hours of uninterrupted time
- Your full attention
- A commitment to putting yourself first (at least for the duration of the webinar) – you can’t pour from an empty cup.
